BANNER ELK, N.C. – Donte Falls scored a career-high 31 points to go along with eight rebounds, but it wasn't enough as No. 23 Limestone sank a buzzer beater in the final seconds to down Falls and the Bobcats, 75-73.
Lees-McRae and Limestone went toe-to-toe in the first half in nearly every statistical category. The difference on the scoreboard came in the final second as Chad Hicks drained a three-pointer to give the Bobcats a 33-32 lead going into halftime.
The second half was one of runs. Limestone's run was a 12-1 advantage in the opening minutes of the frame to get the Saints out to an eight-point lead, 51-43. Not to be outdone, the Bobcats put together a run of their own to regain the lead. LMC led by as many as seven points with 4:55 to go in regulation. The 23rd-ranked Saints did not yield though as they came back and tied the game on three different occasions before Macoumba Kane drained the buzzer beater in the final second to give Limestone the 75-73 victory.
In addition to the career day by Falls, Jordan Turner also turned in a good performance for the Bobcats with 15 points and he added five rebounds as well.
The Bobcats, now 4-12 overall and 3-5 in league play, will look to get back in the win column Saturday when they travel to take on Erskine. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
