  • Three Bobcats earn D2CCA All-Southeast Region honors; Deeley named Region’s Player of the Year

    NEWBERRY, S.C. – The postseason awards keep rolling in for the Lees-McRae College men’s soccer team as three of its student-athletes were named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region squads Wednesday morning. Senior Tom Deeley earned a spot on the first team and was also tabbed the region’s player of the year. Sophomore Harvey McMorrow also was named to the first team, while Nathan Watt rounded out the honorees for Lees-McRae after being named to the second team.
  • Tom Deeley and Pol Vassart named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

    GREENWOOD, Ind. – Lees-McRae College men’s soccer players Tom Deeley and Pol Vassart were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team the organization announced Thursday. Deeley and Vassart are the first Bobcats to be recognized by the organization since 2014 when former Bobcat James Smith earned Academic All-American honors.

  • Six Bobcats named to All-Conference squads, Deeley named Offensive Player of the Year

    GAFFNEY, S.C. – Six members of the Lees-McRae College men’s soccer team earned All-Conference Carolinas honors Friday afternoon in Gaffney, S.C. Tom Deeley was named the league’s offensive player of the year along with being placed on the first team. Deeley was joined on the first team by Pol Vassart and Harvey McMorrow. Johannes Oeksnevad was the only Bobcat to be named to the second team, but he also claimed the league’s freshman of the year honor. Seniors James Morgan and Nathan Watt rounded out the honorees for LMC players as both players earned spots on the third team.

LMC, which is the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will take on sixth-seeded Mount Olive at 7 p.m. Friday from Gaffney, South Carolina.

The win boosts LMC’s record to 11-4-3 on the season.
  • Nathan Watt named Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Player of the Week

    HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College men’s soccer player Nathan Watt has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Player of the Week the league office announced Monday. It marks the first player of the week award in Watt’s career, and it is also the fourth time this season that a Bobcat has earned the honor. The four player of the week award winners are the most in a single season in the history of the program.
  • Men’s Soccer preps for its Conference Carolinas Quarterfinal matchup with Erskine Tuesday

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – After finishing second in the Conference Carolinas standings during the regular season, the Lees-McRae College men’s soccer team will open postseason play Tuesday night when it hosts No. 7 seed Erskine College in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
  • 16 Lees-McRae Soccer players named Academic All-Conference

    HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College soccer programs had 16 student-athletes recognized Monday with Academic All-Conference honors. The men’s team had nine honorees in: Tom Deeley, David Frederick, Adam Hackett, Palle Jespersen, James Morgan, Andy Ramirez, Pol Vassart, Nathan Watt and Kelvin Woods. The women’s team had seven players recognized and they were: Allyna Ankney, Alexis Feely, Leanne McAlexander, Savannah Rees, Natalie Shuman, Nikki Torres and Kelsey Twigg.

    FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Lees-McRae College men’s soccer team scored five goals in the second half on its way to a 6-1 victory in its regular season finale Saturday evening at Emmanuel (GA) College. The win improves LMC to 10-4-3 overall and 7-3-0 in conference matches.
  • Bobcats dominant in an 8-0 shutout of North Greenville Tuesday

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – After scoring a season-high seven goals last time out against Erskine, the Lees-McRae College men’s soccer team scored even more Tuesday night at Tate Field as the Bobcats shut out North Greenville by a score of 8-0. The 15 goals scored by the Bobcats in these past two contests are the most in a two-match span for the program since 2007 when it also scored 15 times in matches against Chowan and Erskine. With the win, Lees-McRae improves to 9-4-3 overall and 6-3-0 in league contests.

Deeley, who was also named the league’s player of the week on September 11, joins teammate Harvey McMorrow as Bobcats who have earned this honor this season.

LMC will begin the week hosting North Greenville at Tate Field Tuesday before traveling to Emmanuel (GA) for the regular season finale on Saturday. Kickoff Tuesday is set for 7:30 p.m., and Saturday’s tilt is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start time.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – 11 different members of the Lees-McRae College men’s soccer team scored at least one point as the Bobcats cruised to a 7-0 win over Erskine Saturday at Tate Field on the team’s senior day. The seven goal outburst is the most for the team since November 3, 2009 when it scored eight goals. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 8-4-3 overall and 5-3-0 in league matches.

The win not only improves Lees-McRae’s record to 6-3-2 this season but it also surpasses the team’s win total from last season.

  • Chowan edges No. 12 Lees-McRae, 3-2, in overtime

    MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The No. 12 Lees-McRae College men’s soccer team led Chowan University 2-1 going into the final minutes of Saturday’s match until the Hawks tied the score at 2-2 with 1.3 seconds to go in regulation. After the scoring the tying goal, the Hawks won the game seven minutes into overtime to give the Bobcats their second straight loss and first defeat in conference play this season.

    MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Sophomore Harvey McMorrow scored his first collegiate goal in the 12th minute of play Saturday against Mount Olive to help lift the No. 17 Lees-McRae College men’s soccer to a 1-0 victory over UMO. The victory propels the Bobcats to a 5-0-1 record and a perfect 3-0-0 mark in league matches so far in 2017.
