BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Erin Bingham cruised to a victory in the 100-meter hurdles and Christian Lloyd won the men’s pole vault while the Lees-McRae track and field teams participated in day two of the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon at Arthur-Lauritsen-Sanders Track and Field Venue in Banner Elk, N.C.
Bingham (West Jefferson, N.C.) repeated as the outdoor champion in the 100-meter hurdles after turning in a time of 14.15 seconds; which is a national qualifying mark. The junior finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.96.
Lloyd (Irmo, S.C.) swept the pole vault titles in the 2015-16 season while clearing 4.40 meters Saturday.
Sophomore Joshua Cady (Aiken, S.C.) cleared 4.10 meters to grab fourth.
Junior Cody McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) impressed with a second place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.83.
LMC’s Tyree Reed (Phenix City, Ala.) capped off a stellar season by placing second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.58 seconds. He finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 21.41.
In the final event of the day, Reed joined McNeely, Davante Scott (Hopkins, S.C.) and Razhede Highsmith (Gastonia, N.C.) to finish second the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:20.54.
Scott claimed seventh in the 400-meter dash after churning out a time of 50.02.
Junior Kayla Powell (Moyock, N.C.) performed well in a pair of field events. She swiped third in the shot put with a heave of 11.61 meters. Powell claimed fourth in the discus with a throw of 31.02.
Sophomore Makayla Estep (Moravian Falls, N.C.) earned bronze in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.54. She finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.38.
Austin Thompson (Cleveland, Ga.) capped off his freshman campaign with a seventh-place finish in the 5,000-meter run after using a time of 15:57.45.
Blue Bell, Pa., native, Alexandria Flint claimed seventh in the 800-meter run, using a time of 2:31.68.
Junior Joshua Godwin (Pleasant Grove, N.C.) placed sixth in the shot put after a throw of 11.84 meters.
Dual-athlete Rishad Felton (Hendersonville, N.C.) grabbed seventh in the long jump after leaping to a distance of 6.56 meters.
Felton, Highsmith, Reed and Matthew Darden (Columbus, N.C.) finished sixth in the men’s 4x100-meter relay with a time of 43.19 seconds.
Sophomore Najah Underwood (Hendersonville, N.C.) went for ninth in the long jump with a distance of 4.87 meters.
LMC’s men’s team finished fifth with 71.5 points while Mount Olive claimed the team title with 227. Limestone finished second with 215.
The Bobcat women claimed sixth with 61 points while UMO earned the team title with 211 points. LC finished second with 156.5.
