BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Barton Friday evening at Williams Gymnasium (25-14, 25-21, 25-18). With the loss, LMC's record moves to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in Conference Carolinas action.
Set 1: Barton came out on fire in the opening set against the Bobcats. The Bulldogs totaled 14 kills with just one error in 21 attempts (.619 hitting percentage) on their way to a 25-14 victory in the first set. Barton also kept LMC's offense in check holding it to a .071 hitting percentage.
Set 2: The Bobcats made some adjustments in the second set and kept up with Barton for most of the second stanza. LMC, however, was hurt by six service errors in the frame. Due the miscues, LMC allowed Barton to maintain serve and go on a 7-3 run to close out the set, 25-21.
Set 3: The Bulldogs returned to their hot-hitting in the third hitting .300 in 20 attempts. Barton kept LMC's offense in check with eight digs in the frame. Due to the complete effort by the Bulldogs, they were able to finish the match off, 25-18.
Wes Rogman paced LMC Friday with nine kills in 15 attempts (.467 hitting percentage). Rogman also paced LMC's defensive efforts against the Bulldogs with four digs.
Lees-McRae will return to action Saturday when it plays host to Mount Olive. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
