MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team fell in three sets to Mount Olive Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action. The set scores Saturday were: 25-20, 25-17 and 25-18. LMC moves to 9-15 overall and 7-9 in conference play with the defeat.
Set 1: UMO jumped on LMC early Saturday scoring four of the first five points in the frame. Despite the early deficit, the Bobcats battled back to tie the score at 13 and 14 later in the stanza. Although Lees-McRae tied the score, the Trojans vaulted ahead scoring 11 of the next 18 points to seal the win in the first set.
Set 2: The Bobcats came out swinging in the second set, especially from the middle. Hector Serviat and Karl Deichmann posted eight kills with just one error on 11 attempts in second. The play between Serviat, Deichmann and the rest of the Bobcats was not enough, however, as Mount Olive went on to win by a score of 25-17.
Set 3: LMC's offense struggled to gain any positive momentum in the third set. The Bobcats had eight attack errors to go along with three service errors. Mount Olive took full advantage of LMC's miscues on its way to a 25-18 win to complete the sweep of the Bobcats.
Next Up: Lees-McRae will return to the court next Saturday when it travels to Tigerville, S.C. to take on North Greenville. First serve between the Bobcats and Crusaders is set for 2 p.m.
