BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team will travel to Milligan College on Sunday for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitches are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m., respectively.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats split a twin bill at UVA-Wise last Sunday. Lees-McRae won the first game, 2-1, but the Cavaliers rebounded to win game two, 7-0. With the results Sunday, LMC's record stands at 6-10 on the season.
Strikeout Stat – Sophomore Kara Cunningham currently is third among Conference Carolinas pitchers with 32 strikeouts. Cunningham, who was named the league's pitcher of the week on Feb. 13, posted a season-high eight strikeouts in her last outing at UVA-Wise.
Winning Ways – Lees-McRae already has six wins on the season after winning 10 games all of 2016. The Bobcats still have 32 games remaining in the regular season surpass last season's win total.
Success in the Seventh – A key in the Bobcats six victories this season has been their ability to score runs late. LMC has outscored its opponents 5-0 in the seventh inning and 9-2 when going into extra innings.
About the Opponent – Milligan enters the weekend with a record of 3-4. The Buffaloes own a doubleheader sweep over the University of the Cumberlands as well as a victory over No. 24 University of Rio Grande (Ohio) this season.
