BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team has eight games over the span five days this week. The Bobcats will begin the week with doubleheaders on the road at Coker Wednesday and Wingate Thursday. Following those double dips, LMC will open its conference schedule Saturday when it hosts Converse. Lees-McRae will close out the week with a road trip to Limestone Sunday for two against the Saints.
Last Time Out – Lees-McRae picked up its fourth consecutive split in a twin bill last Sunday when it won one and lost one at Mars Hill. LMC rebounded after a 7-5 loss in game one to defeat the Lions by a score of 7-6 in the second contest.
League Leader – Senior Sarah Stallings currently leads the league with .512 batting average. The Greensboro, N.C. native also paces the Bobcats in triples (2) and stolen bases (2).
Winning Away from Home – All 20 games for Lees-McRae have been either on the road or neutral site contests. The Bobcats have won eight of these 20 games, which is the most wins for the program in away or neutral site games since the 2012 season when they won 13 such contests.
Bottom of the Order Producing – The eighth and ninth spots of LMC's batting order have been producing at a high level this season. Those two spots are hitting .368 collectively this season. Comparatively, the rest of the lineup is hitting .260 on the season.
Conference Starting Up – This weekend the Bobcats will open their Conference Carolinas schedule. Lees-McRae will look to build upon a six-win campaign in the conference in 2016. The six victories were the most since 2011 when LMC won 10 conference tilts.
