MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday afternoon to Mount Olive by scores of 8-2 and 7-2. With the results Saturday, LMC's record moves to 13-27 overall and 5-11 in Conference Carolinas action.
Game 1 Recap: UMO scored eight runs on nine hits in the first game of the day on its way to an 8-2 win over Lees-McRae. Caitlyn Ray led LMC's offense going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, while Sarah Tucker and Noel Cassidy accounted for the two RBI for LMC.
In the circle, Kara Cunningham was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs on nine hits in the tilt. Cunningham's record moves to 6-9 with the defeat.
Game 2 Recap: The Bobcats and Trojans were tied at 2-2 through four innings in game two, but Mount Olive scored five runs over the next two innings to complete the sweep over LMC with a 7-2 victory.
Cassidy and Emily Merriam both went 2-for-4 to lead the Bobcat offense in game two. Cassidy and Merriam also drove in one run each in the contest.
Charlie Dutton took the loss for the Bobcats in game two after allowing six runs (five earned) on four hits, four walks, but added four strikeouts. Dutton's record moves to 2-10 with the loss.
Next Up: LMC will be back in action Sunday when they wrap up its regular season road schedule at Barton with a pair of games. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Wilson, N.C.
