BANNER ELK, N.C. – Fresh off its third straight win Saturday, the Lees-McRae College women's basketball team will try and continue its winning ways Tuesday when it hosts Emmanuel (GA) at Williams Gymnasium. The start time for Tuesday's contest is set for 5:30 p.m.
Last Time Out – Lees-McRae evened the season series against Southern Wesleyan Saturday with a 67-61 victory. Brea Forbes, who scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds, led LMC. Alexis Ammons and Breana Hardnett also chipped in 12 points each as well.
Forbes for Player of the Week – Forbes was named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week Monday by the league office. The Freeport, Bahamas native averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals to lead the Bobcats to wins over Erskine and Southern Wesleyan last week.
Going for four – The Bobcats will be trying to win their fourth straight game Tuesday against Emmanuel. If LMC can pull it off, it will mark the first time that it has won four consecutive games since the 2013-14 season when it defeated Erskine, Pfeiffer, Barton and North Greenville in a row.
Crash the Glass – A major key in LMC's three-game winning streak has been its improved ability to grab rebounds. In their first 19 games of the season, the Bobcats averaged 37.2 rebounds per contest. In the last three games, LMC has bumped that number up to 46.3 rebounds per game. Forbes has led these efforts averaging 14.3 rebounds by herself with fellow sophomores Hardnett and Anna Hairgrove averaging 5.3 and 6.3, respectively.
Series Rewind – Emmanuel picked up a 77-69 win over the Bobcats earlier this season in Franklin Springs, Ga. Hardnett and Ammons led LMC with 22 and 21 points, respectively, in that contest.
