Anderson Breaks School Record at Orange & Purple Classic

CLEMSON, S.C. --- Freshman Kyandra Anderson set a new school record in the 60-meter dash and the men’s 4x400 squad claimed fifth while the Lees-McRae track and field participated at the Orange and Purple Classic over the weekend in Clemson, S.C.

Anderson (College Park, Ga.) needed only 8.06 seconds to best Iesha Poindexter’s mark of 8.16, set at the Niswonger Invitational in 2012.

The quartet of Gabriel Blackmon (College Park, Ga.), Tyree Reed, Davante Scott and Christian Parker earned a top-five finish when they completed the 4x400-meter relay in 3:26.13

Malcolm Peeler (Raleigh, N.C.) and Najah Underwood (Hendersonville, N.C.) claimed seventh in their respective triple jump contests.

Sophomore Cody McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) swiped 10th in the 800-meter run while freshman Jamie Colon (Acworth, Ga.) used a time of 13:05.53 to claim 10th in the 3,000-meter run.

Sophomore Kayla Powell (Moyock, N.C.) finished ninth in the weight throw with a heave of 11.05 meters.

McNeely, Tyler Pauley (Independence, Va.), Razhede Highsmith (Gastonia, N.C.) and Logan Sewell (Hendersonville, N.C.) notched a time of 11:31.22 in the distance medley relay to earn seventh.

Coach Ley Fletcher and the Bobcats will trek to Johnson City, Tenn. next weekend to participate at the ETSU Invitational.
