BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball split a pair of matches Saturday at Williams Gymnasium. The Bobcats dropped a conference match to league-leading Barton, 3-0, before sweeping Winston-Salem State in their second match.
Barton Recap – The Bobcats hung around in the first two sets but dropped both sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-22. Barton ran away with the third set, however, winning it by a score of 25-13.
Lexi Zangari and Logan Slusher paced LMC with six kills each. Zangari was the most efficient hitter for the Bobcats hitting .417 on 12 attempts with just one attack error.
Winston-Salem State Recap – Lees-McRae used a staunch defensive effort to knock off Winston-Salem State, 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-10). The Bobcats held the Rams to a -.025 hitting percentage for the match. In addition, the Bobcats were dynamite from the serve totaling 11 aces in the contest. Johnaliz Cotte led these efforts with four aces.
Next up – The Bobcats will be back in action against the same Winston-Salem State squad it faced Saturday on Tuesday in Winston-Salem. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
