BANNER ELK, N.C. – For the second time this season, the Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team swept Bluefield State College in straight sets (25-14, 25-20, 25-21) Saturday afternoon in Williams Gymnasium. The win improves LMC's record to 4-15 on the season.

Set 1:  The Bobcats started on fire Saturday afternoon scoring the first seven points of the contest. LMC did not let up after that quick start either as it went on to win the frame, 25-14. As a team, Lees-McRae hit a match-high .400 in the stanza with five different players registering kills.

Set 2: Bluefield State was able to hang around in the second due to miscues by Lees-McRae. Between attack, service and receive errors, the Bobcats committed 12 errors. Despite the 12 mistakes for LMC, it was able to overcome the Big Blues, 25-20, to extend its lead to 2-0.

Set 3: Lees-McRae did not quite reach the offensive numbers it did in the first set, but it came close hitting .286 as a team. The team got a big boost off the bench from Whitley Starnes who picked up four kills on seven attempts for a .429 hitting percentage. Backed by the hitting of Starnes and the rest of the Bobcats, LMC went on to finish off the sweep, 25-21.

Stat Standouts: Senior Rachel Cutshaw led the Bobcats Saturday with a season-high nine kills on 15 attempts with just one attack error for a hitting percentage of .533. Fellow senior Courtney Weathersbee totaled a 25 assists on top of eight digs. Defensively, Madison Martin paced LMC with 11 digs in the contest.

Next Up: Lees-McRae will reenter Conference Carolinas play Tuesday when it plays host to rival King (Tenn.) University. LMC and King are scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. from Williams Gymnasium.
