  • Kendall Fuller named Lees-McRae Head Softball Coach

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College Vice President for Athletics and Club Sports Craig McPhail announced on Thursday Kendall Fuller has been named the new head coach of the softball program. Fuller comes to the mountains following ten years of NCAA Division I coaching experience at Winthrop University and Western Carolina University, where she helped cultivate numerous academic and athletic achievements for her student-athletes.

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team dropped a pair of extra inning games Sunday afternoon in Charlotte. The Bobcats fell to Frostburg State by a score of 3-2 in eight innings before falling again in eight innings to Queens to close out the day by a 4-3 final score. The results Sunday push Lees-McRae’s record to 8-8 this season.

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team picked up a pair of victories Saturday afternoon in Charlotte because of a pair of solid pitching performances. First, the Bobcats shut out Queens by a score of 6-0 before picking up another win over Frostburg State, 4-1, later in the day. With the pair of wins, the Bobcats improve to 8-6 on the season.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – Fresh off a memorable weekend of action last week at Lenoir-Rhyne, the Lees-McRae College softball team will return to action this weekend for four more games at Queens University of Charlotte. The Bobcats will face off against Queens at 12:30 p.m. Saturday before taking on Frostburg State at 3 p.m. later that day. Lees-McRae will wrap up its trip to the Queen City on Sunday with a rematch against Frostburg State at 11 a.m. with another contest against Queens to follow at 4 p.m.
  • Katie Robinson named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week

    GREENVILLE, S.C. – Lees-McRae College softball player Katie Robinson was recognized by the league on Tuesday as she was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week. Robinson is the first Bobcat to earn a weekly honor from the conference this season.

    HICKORY, N.C. – For the second straight day, the Lees-McRae College softball team defeated the number one team in the nation as it defeated Young Harris by a score of 7-4. Lees-McRae, which dropped its second game of the day to No. 20 Lenoir-Rhyne by a score of 15-2, moves to 6-6 on the season with the split.

    HICKORY, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team picked up arguably the biggest win in the history of the program on Saturday as it knocked off the number one team in the nation in Young Harris by a score of 9-1 in five innings. The Bobcats, who dropped an 11-7 decision to No. 20 Lenoir-Rhyne earlier in the day, moved to 5-5 on the season with the split.

    ANDERSON, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team dropped a pair of games on the road at Anderson on Thursday. The Bobcats dropped a 12-7 decision in game one and then an 8-6 contest in game two. The results on Thursday push Lees-McRae’s record to 4-4.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team will have six games over the next four days beginning Thursday with a pair at Anderson. Lees-McRae will also have two games each against No. 20 Lenoir-Rhyne and No. 1 Young Harris on Saturday and Sunday in Hickory, N.C. Thursday’s and Saturday’s action begins at 1 p.m., while Sunday’s games get underway at 2 p.m.

The Bulldogs won game one 5-2 before winning game two 11-0 in five innings to complete the sweep. The pair of losses for Lees-McRae Saturday drops its record to 2-2 on the 2020 campaign.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team will have a busy schedule over the next few days with three doubleheaders against South Atlantic Conference (SAC) institutions. The Bobcats will head to No. 8 Lincoln Memorial on Thursday before heading to Wingate on Saturday and UVa-Wise on Sunday. First pitch on all three days is set for 1 p.m.

Additionally, the trio of Faith Cooke, Julie Gast and Caitlyn Ray were picked as players to watch for the Bobcats this spring.

    GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas announced that 157 Lees-McRae College student-athletes earned spots on the Fall 2019 Presidential Honor Roll. Overall, there were 2,742 student-athletes in the conference to earn this honor.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Lees-McRae College softball team had 10 players recognized for their work in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year by being named 2019 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes late Wednesday afternoon. The 10 Bobcats recognized were: Noel Cassidy, Kara Cunningham, Cassidy Largen, Emily Merriam, Ashlyn Mills, Gabrielle Moyer, Mallory Myers, Sarah Beth Thomas, Christian Welch and Katelyn Wyatt.
  • Softball adds six newcomers for the 2020 season

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball program unveiled its recruiting class Thursday afternoon. Overall, the Bobcats added six new players that will help the program build upon the historic 2019 campaign where the team won its first conference championship and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance. The newest Bobcats are: Addyson Ikard (Maiden, N.C.), Charlsy Traylor (Pomaria, S.C.), Cassidy Coleman (Elon, N.C.), McKinley Johnson (Granite Falls, N.C.), Cora Detter (Hickory, N.C.) and Hannah Foster (Orange Park, Fla.).

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – Rachel Ross was named the new assistant coach for the Lees-McRae College softball program Friday morning. Ross comes to Lees-McRae after serving as the assistant coach for Greensboro College this past season.
